in a new york state of mind

Saturday I ventured to New York City. I hadn't been since high school and was so excited to go this time of year, just as they were decorating for Christmas. The weather was perfect! As soon as we arrived, the shopping began! We had lunch at Juniors which is known for their cheesecake and has been operating since the 1950's. The decorations were so festive and the music was 'old-timey' and I loved it...it made me think of the old New York. After lunch, we walked through Times Square and then hit Fifth Avenue in full force. As I entered Saks, the smell, the decor...everything made me feel as if I had entered heaven. The next stop was Tiffany's which was even more heavenly. I was ooh and ahhing over the engagement rings..a girl can dream! We then made stops at Bergdorf Goodman, FAO Schwartz, and Johnny Utahs to get a little bit of the south in the Big Apple. Have you ever been to a bar that didn't have any beer? It was a first, but the bartender was so funny...he said their shipment of beer hadn't come in that day and that he was out on Friday also. Poor guy was having a rough weekend. Atleast they had a mechanical bull...you can't go wrong with one of those. After we downed cheap beer and mixed drinks, we were off to Radio City Music Hall for the Rockettes. It was my first time seeing them and they were incerdible. The venue was so neat and the entire show and trip put me in the Christmas mood. I hope to go back up soon and see things that I didn't get a chance to see like Central Park, Ground Zero, and Magnolia Bakery. Apparently Dave Matthews Band was playing at Madison Square Garden also...and I had no idea.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

[p.s the picture of the bride down below was taken outside of St. Patrick's Cathedral...she was absolutely STUNNING! I had to snap a picture like a total creeper because I was IN LOVE with her dress, flowers, and pearls.]

  1. That bride is beautiful. My mother also wore a pink suit to my wedding. And taking her picture is totally something I would have done. I don't have your email so thought commenting would be the best way to wish you a very Merry Christmas. I hope you have a wonderful holiday. xo xo
