Ray LaMontagne and David Gray

It's been a while! To tell you the truth, I've wanted to blog so badly, but I just couldn't bring myself to finish any entry I've started. I've also been neglecting reading blogs, but I can't wait to catch up on what's been going on with everyone. I have lots of catching up to do! To bring me back into the swing of things again, let me tell you about some good, good music!

I love, love, love music and lyrics. I grew up on country music (think Garth Brooks, Joe Diffie, John Michael Montgomery, Tracy Byrd, Lorrie Morgan, Pam Tillis...etc), but listen to pretty much everything. If it has a good beat and catchy lyrics, I'm down with it. However, there are a few artists that stick in my mind as being my favorites. One of them would be Ray LaMontagne. A few years ago my friend introduced me to his music and I immediately fell in love. Of course when my friend surprised me and told me she had bought us tickets to see Ray LaMontagne and David Gray (her music obsession)...I was estatic. To me, Ray's music is so soulful and unlike any other artist I have ever heard. His graspy voice and lyrics are filled with so much passion and emotion that I can't help but fall in love with the way he sounds and his lyrics. Just incredible.

Before the concert I had heard a few David Gray songs here and there, but I didn't listen to him all that often. Let me just say that the show was...A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Of course what they say is true, time flies when you're having fun...and the night flew by. Both of them were so passionate and into performing their songs and I was dancing and singing the night away. David Gray's music is really good (and I think Ray is amazing in concert and on his CDs), but David sounds SO much more incredible in person than he does on CDs or on any music video I've seen on Youtube. He gets so into it. As a result of this concert, I feel like I could become one of those band groupies that travels all over the country to see them. If you haven't heard any of their songs, I suggest you go take a listen! I love pretty much all of Ray's songs and he just released a new CD. Some of my favorites of his are Jolene, Shelter, Trouble, Hold You In My Arms, Empty, Let It Be Me, You Are The Best Thing, and New York City Is Killing Me. Some songs I love of David's are Sail Away, Nemesis, Please Forgive Me, This Years Love, and Be Mine. I think that if you listen to some of these songs, you'll definitely recognize them if they don't already sound familiar to you, although I'm sure some might. Writing this post is already making me feel giddy with excitement...I'm starting to feel the urge to start looking up tour dates so I can see them again :)

Hope y'all have been well!
